Food made with love alw tastes heavenly. It doesnt hav to be expensive or valuable in nature, jus food made from the heart. U work hard for ur food. U decide if it is worthy to be placed in your mouth... I call this philosophy: Igersm :)

Bakerinz
I wanted to hang out in a café so out I went. Supposed to do a little gyming BUTTT I woke up late. Plus I neede d to clear my posts! I’m super lagg. HAHHA
I know I’m being pretty thick skinned here cos I headed to United Sq’s outlet and makind use of my voucher, jus wanted a soup. Then here I am, typing away on my laptop, eating and not even paying a single cent cos I made use of the coupon. CHEAP rite? Ya I also think so. So so so pray I hang out ltr, so I can at least order a coffee Plus, they having 30% off on cakes, beverages and desserts so all the more I shld try out their stuff.
Anw the soup was thick and boy did I lament insede my heart when the bowl of soup came. It was so pathetically small. Then I thot, lucky they hav free flow of bread. After 2 rounds to the bread counter and finishing my soup, I was comforted that the soup was a small helping. I didn’t get sick from the soup. The mushroom soup ($5.80) was thick and creamy, oh no the calories of fat from cream! It was packed full of mushroomy goodness and SHIOKK! I love my food when they are served literally boiling hot. I could tell so from the steam that streamed off the bowl and the moment it touched my mouth. I am a satiated, happy soul.
Where’s my beverage? I jus ordered a Café Affogato with Rum & Raisin ice cream. ($6.60) Shit. My cough hasn’t recovered. But heck la.
It’s super nice. I kinda expected a float but nah, it seems as if the coffee takes centre stage instead of the ice cream, which usu outshines others. Both complement each other well. The ice cream is sweet and the coffee bitter so when u combine the 2 = bliss. Simple yet effective. I am liking my coffee more and more each day

The family passed by and the unique deco attracted us. Hmm yoghurt after dinner? Why not?
Plus we were really curious abt their concept where they challenge u even b4 u try their products. WOW! U see they serve their yoghurt in a few sizes where if u can accurately measure their yoghurt including the condiments u add, at 100g, 200g, 300g, 400g, they’ll give u tt cup for free.
So we were up for the challenge plus they serve real quirky flavours like passion fruit, honeydew, chocolate, etc other than the original flavour of course.
U also hav a counter full of condiments to add of which the more special ones were mochi.
These are the 2 frenly helpers.
Cosy Corners to chill ut :D which is gd if ya inbig grps erms erms OG outings? HAHA
Sadly, we didn’t win the challenge but it doesn’t matter, all for the fun of it. We got Passion fruit yoghurt with some condiment ($4.50 for abt 200-300g), the mochi was special. Hwr, frankly I think this is real ex and one shld only come if ya in a big grp and dun hav a convenient place to chill out. Cos they hav a cosy corner where it can accommodate huge grps plus it’s super out of the way. So it’s up to u!
Take note of their operating hours if ya wan2 go :)

HK Street Tze Char
This tze char stall has been regularly frequented by my family. We simply love the Sliced Fish Soup (S-$4.50, M-$8.50,L-$11), they hav the version with XO but trust me the original is alr packed with wholesome flavour. Idk how they do it but the soup’s oh-so-gd tt it leaves a sticky after-taste, tt shld mean sth rite? Tt it’s not diluted like water. PLUS it’s not-at-all FISHY. With the sliced fish more of CHUNKS, this fish soup scores!
XO Slced Fish Soup but this bowl doesnt hav XO, no tipsy tipsy
We had the San Lao Hor Fun (S-$4)- another signature. The Guo Tiao is first fried quickly in the wok with a little oil to make it smooth and QQ aka chewy. Then a little sesame oil is also added to give it a hint of flavour and smell. Then the gravy is cooked with the usual Chinese sauces like soy sauce, etc including the sliced fish pieces and given a little corn flour to thicken. It is lavishly poured onto the first fried Hor Fun and then VO-LA!
The Omelette was so-so, but I quite like it cos of the generous leaping of radish bits in the egg. I love my cai po!
They hav other signature’s like Assam Fish Head (seasonal price) and Prawn Paste Chicken i.e. deep fried chicken. However, according to my parent’s observations, they hav been stealthily increasing its prices. Mus be so, after establishing a regular customer base. But when the craving for nice fish soup comes and a little money in the pocket, I sure wont mind!

This fish soup is good but to be frank I tried better ones. Nonetheless it still is worth a try for those who haven. The fish slices are sliced jus of the right thickness and so fresh tt u can almost taste the ocean. Just $3.50 for a gd bowl of soup and rice. The highlight instead shld be its chilli. Chilli padi soaked in a base of chopped up garlic and wat I think shld be fish sauce. U cant resist dipping the fish slice or perhaps even ur rice in it.I couldn’t stop myself from finishing my rice. Hey! I was supposed to stop cos I had to leave some tummy for Hokkein Mee.
Wow can u believe this portion is only $2.50? LIKE DUH? Who sells such portion at such a prize? AM I DREAMING? A little pinch did the trick.
No kidding. Yupp at only $2.50, this plate of Hokkein Mee is packed full of sotong (No, not Paul) & prawns. It’s wet but not too wet and they use a combination of thin n thick bee hoon. However I think Whampoo’s Hokkein Mee is still the best. I seriously dk wat’s lacking but jus sth is lacking here.

We alw wanted to try the Cong You Bing ( Spring Onion Pancake) here and finally we could. Previously we tried the red bean flavour and aye it disappointed.
“Like Hum Chi Pang leh” the mum lamented. “somemore so ex…$4 for 1 Hum Chi Pang look-alike…”
Now, “$3.50 for a roti prata? Indian n Chinese make got diff huh, 1 so much more ex then the other? Then got onion meh?” the mum commented.
HAHA dang funny. Plus the Sweet & Sour Ramen was yuck. Mayb I was too greedy and added too much vinegar but it was yucky. Hmm the queue suggested otherwise… But perhaps it was bcos we didn’t eat their signatures like Wo Tie aka fried dumplings or its Xiao Long Bao.
The Teochew Fish Soup didn’t disappoint tho. It was refreshing and clear and light. Now this is special, they added fried Tau Kee in, which is beancurd skin and this made the whole eating experience more enjoyable cos there was a contrast in the mouth.
This chilli packs punch! :)
The Otah is alright but it doesnt pack much punch nor chewyness to it. It's $1.50 for one, u can give it a shot!
Now I wanna try the prawn noodles and chicken rice the next time I’m here!

Oldtown White Coffee
First thot when we entered was... empty. Cos it was 8 plus in the morning. We debated if it was abt the time or sure if it's tasty not, as wat the papers said it was.
"THEN, IT WAS JUST THEN WHEN WE SAW THE MENU. IMPRESSIVE... IMPRESSIVELY EX." as the mum proclaimed.
u see, she was the one who treated so her eyeballs totally POPPED OUT when she saw the prices despite the whole array of dishes. LIKE MORE EX THAN YA KUN?! how much can 1 kopi, 2 eggs & 1 slice of bread with kaya n butter cost? Kopitiam only cost $2 PLUSS now they are scheming. THEY DUN OFFER THEIR BREAKFAST(BF)SETS ($4.20 for 1 slice of Kaya Toast, 2 Eggs, 1 Kopi) ON WKENDS & PH. LIKE HUH!? If u wan Nanyang Coffee, hav to top up $1. So I convinced her that the Kopi here is really gd, as wat the papers claimed.
We wanted to back out but we alr sat there for a gd 10 mins gasping at the menu.
So the sis decided ala carte 1 Nanyang White Kopi($2.20), 2 Eggs ($2.10)& 1 slice of Bread with Kaya n Butter ($1.20) whereas I had a PB Thick Toast($2.50) + 1 Nanyang White Kopi and the mum had her Polo Bun with Chicken Ham & Cheese($3.80) with 1 Kopi-0($1.80)
Ok the signature Nanyang White coffee was FABULOUS as waat the papers said. Really it has a bittersweet after taste and My My the milky taste is Wonderful. Am I in Vietnam rite now? AHHHH This so reminda me of Vietnam coffee! Even the froth is yummy and carries a strong coffee taste.
The mum liked her Kopi-O too!
The Polo Bun with Chicken Ham & Cheese was normal, however luckily, unlike Crystal Jade's polo buns, these aren't too sweet, yet it was normal in other words.
The Kaya Toast looked like charcoal but dun belittle this 'piece of coal'. The velvety kaya gives off the aura of coconut but dun worry it isnt too overpowering and the crispiness of the bread combined with a little butter (luckily only a little if not WAH so fattening) does command it being deserved the title of "Best Toast"
The PB Thick Toast was ordinary, I think I still like Toast Box's best.
2 Eggs on Toast
The sis ordered 2 eggs but they heard wrongly and gave 2 eggs on toast and they were quite unprofessional in it. "Sry, once the order is out, u cant change it." the waitress quipped.
But it was no fault of ours, the waitress who took our orders heard wrongly and thus ticked wrongly. Plus, if it's the mistake of ur fellow colleague, I'm sure it doesnt take much to help rectify rite?
Sooo... only come when u really feel there's money in ur pocket if not Toast Box wld suffice :)
Cos u hav to queue up and take ur own order via an order chit, yet also pay the 10% svc charge. Soooo.... if ya in Malaysia and miss Old Town, Grab it there, dun patronise it in SG. It's the same as Secret Recipe, they sell for the same price but in Malaysia it's in RM, whereas in SG it's SING DOLLARS!

CP Charcoal-Grilled Chicken
It's Mini Chicken Steak with Japanese Sauce and since I've a liking for Japanese sauce cos it has a sweetness to it, this totally scored! It really tastes like Yaki tori from Tori Q and all in the convenience of your home. Now I think CP is a good brand to boot. Their CP wanton shrimp is also many Thumbs-Up!
In the Toaster, cant wait!
W/o Chicken
With CHICKEN!!! YUMS
I had a fruit salad that afternoon too. Yay healthy! This Jap sesame based sauce was used. Dun be too liberal if not "UN" will stick to "HEALTHY"

My fren finally had her shot at Koi’s legendary bubble tea! Congrats!
Hah she has heard so much rave abt it and was determined to try it, jus tt there were no shops near her place. SO QUICK, hav plans to open at Clementi! They currently hav 6 outlets island wide.
I ordered the Hazelnut Milk Tea, supposedly their best, with both pearls and grass jelly ($3.50) whilst the fren had Plum Green Tea also with both pearls and grass jelly ($3.50). Both 25% sweet, we both are health conscious. HAHA for me, like real! :P
Hazelnut Milk Tea
Plum Green Tea
The Verdict: ALL-THUMBS-UP by the fren. The pearls are of a chewy nature and the grass jelly provides a sharp contrast, being so solid yet smooth, that it slithers up ur tongue into ur throat. The drinks are jus the right amount of sweetness and we finished it rite to the last drop. 9/10

Nando Mando
It was jus a random occurrence, we were deliberating on wat to eat, initially wanted TCC since I had the card. We were on our way and Nando’s popped out!
“Aye aye, Looks good hor?” the fren quipped, so off we went in.
“Hmm here’s quite gd, except tt…. Go home still hav to bathe again :/” I grumbled. Cos u see, the area’s much like an open area where they basically do their grilling in an open-faced kitchen, so u see wat’s happening inside and also ur food.
So we each decided on a ¼ chicken with 2 sidelines.
The fren picked ¼ chicken (FIERY HOT) with 2 sidelines – grilled vegetables & skewered potatoes. I picked ¼ chicken (Lemon & Spice - for the not so brave) with 2 sidelines – Mediterranean rice & grilled corn.
Fiery Hot with Grilled Vegs & Skewered Potatoes
Lemon & Spice with Mediterranean rice & Grilled Corn
The 4 different types of Sauces where in the event u regret nt taking watever u wanted but didnt, u can try :)
The verdict: their chicken is gddddd, yummy-licious with it grilled to almost perfection cos it was super tender yet each bite filled with juiciness and flavour. Hot & Fiery isn’t scary and Lemon & Spice isn’t tt distinct. Yet I’m won over by such a subtle taste.
The grilled corn was a surprise cos it was sweet yet had that charred taste. Usually I’m alw disappointed by the corn restaurants serve cos it’s tasteless and cloyingly sick in the mouth but this scored. The rice was basically buttered rice. As I was craving rice at tt moment, I finished it but not tt it’s super yummy.
The Potatoes were normal and the grilled vegs delicious. Now U’ll be even more motivated to eat ur veges when they are bursting with vitamins and fiber with a hint of charredness to it.
So in total I would rate this a 6/10, dun look like it's worth tt marks when we polished off everthing rite? BUT NOW LISTEN they dun serve tap water?! YAAA!
So irritating rite? Like who doesn’t? so we decided to knock off a pt their rating and gave it a 5/10. HAH! And we reserved our tummies for KOI CAFÉ.
