Best Olives

Did I ever mention tt this is THE PLACE to go when ya in search of some real, down-to-earth pasta plus when the times aint gd- aha referrin to too much indulgence thus causing ur pockets to kinda bleed dry. YES tt's my case here! goodness, can anybody tell me a magical way to literally grow ur money?

HAHHA it really helps when u r taught tt money is acc jus a percieved value, which in actual fact means it is jus plain worthless if not for its percieved value...

So with a hungry tummy (i didnt eat breakfast, jus a cuppa instant 3-in-1 coffee) n zoomed down to changi airport t2 with a meet up with my ex colleagues. MY MY, I so did miss their pasta!

At only $3-4 plus a plate, a generous portion is given. Thankfully they reverted back to this generous portion cos there was a period when CAG wanted to upgrade the canteens n expected the vendors to fork out $10,000 or leave. A few did leave cos of its exorbitant request but others stayed on, passing the costs over to us, we consumers by cutting the food portions by like almost HALF! colleague V was so anry tt she wanted to boycott it forever, but luckily they resumed their decent portions :) HAHHA if not, I think she'll be super sad but hahh she'll console herself by saying "It's full of CARBO, luckily I'm not eating tt!"

So my fav choice- Aglio Olio with seafood for jus $3.90 (staff price) plus u can alw request the change of pasta choice, they wont grumble. I like it bcos they cook each portion singly thus u do hav to wait for a little while but not tt long cos they prepare it slightly b4 such tt when they cook it for the final time,it's jus the right texture and taste.

So wat r u waiting for the next time ya waiting to catch a plane? Forget abt those DFS till u fill ur tummy n... RMB it's at T2! u hav to go to the carpark's lift n press "3M" to get to the pasta paradise - BEST OLIVES

Pontini

Pontini at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel

Soooo I finally was able to strive off one of the places I want to go under My Cravings.

When I first entered, the setting was soothing. It’s tt kind of dining experience where u go in and immediately know tt this kind of place is the atas kind. Lest u dk, Atas means high class. So sudd u behave very high classily. Haha I was thinking: Oii, better look as if this is all normal to u. If not appear super noob how?

So the frens and I calmly strolled in, or rather I, cos the other 2 r like seasoned peeps, with the waitress ushering us in, everybody took turns to greet us. Heng ah! My Sec sch taught us well, went thru some fine dining etiquette. So even if I didn’t fare well, I wld still manage a pass rite?

We ordered a cocktails since there was a 1-for-1 promotion ($22 for 2), I had a Cuban Mojito whilst the fren had a Cosmopolitan .

Cosmopolitan

Cuban Mojito

Next I ordered a 3-course set which included a soup or salad, I took the former (Mushroom Soup), a main of either steak or arriabata (since I cant take beef, I got the pasta) and Panna Cotta for dessert, all for $42++. It supposedly included a tea or coffee BUT THEY DIDN’T SERVE ME TT! Wow so much for 5 star. Ok mayb they forgot, I shld be magnanimous and forgive butttt… my tea. Hwr I was quite disappointed when they rejected my request to change the dessert from Panna Cotta to Tiramisu, cos according to the fren, their Tiramisu is DA BOMB. But we were thinking tt since they were a recognised restaurant plus they hav many great reviews, I’m sure they cld make some arrangements but they didn’t… -sobs. Maybe I’m jus a nobody tt’s y. AHAH mayb if some big shot food connoisseur came, things wld be different. HAISH, my motivation to become one in future!

The frens each had a pasta and they ordered an extra Tiramisu just to statisfy our tongues for a good dessert. Girls jus gotta hav our dessert! Plus, they hav superb oven roasted pizzas so we jus had to order one- sry I forgot the name jus rmbed tt it had mozzarella cheese+bacon bits+spicy minced pork+tomato base. ($25 for abt 13 or 15-inch pizza) The only super worth for money there. Do we sound like we’re damn pigs? I really think I’m one. Dun worry, the other 2 r like stick thin. So pressurizing rite?

So we had some freshly baked bread for appetisers and boy, they really make u full. But the thing is, no doubt I know they make u full, I still will eat them cos I HAV A FETISH FOR BREAD! Ahhh…. They’re really nice esp dipped in olive oil. Think many will shrivel at this comment, like drink olive oil?! CRAZY! Like drinking oil which means FATSS! Ahhah I was like one of u previously but I really believe in the benefits of olive oil, they’re really gd at clearing ur arteries. My uncle is testament to tt. He did it like super hardcore- drink it daily with some orange juice for flavour, and miraculously, his heart scan cleared the next time he went for his check up.

My yummy mushroom soup, I was acc quite unimpressed cos I prefer to hav chunks of mushroom in my soup for tt whole nice texture BUT I was thankful it wast like tt, cos if it were, I wld hav been too full toontinue my meal.

Pizza was super yummy, or mayb it was bcos we were H-U-N-G-A-R-Y?! lol. Paper-thin crust with not too much cheese on top n bits of bacon which was balanced well. Nwonder ppl gave good reviews here. I was satisfied.

By the time we were halfway done with the pizza, I was alr full. The pasta hasn’t even arrived yet. OH NO. Luckily portions are small for fine dining so I didn’t waste much food.

The Pastas:

Spaghetti Arriabata

Penne in Beef Bolognise

Rotini wth smoked salmon

Panna Cotta was not bad, I really loved their dried and paper thin strawberry slices which adorned the dessert plus the jam and sponge-infused cake. They complimented the panna cotta nicely.

Look at the paper-thin Dried strawberry!

Tiramisu was indeed DA BOMB. U hav to keep SHOUTING n SHOUTING when u jus try the coffe embedded inside. Cos I’m a coffee person, this shouts out to me! When u try this, all the tiramisu tt u’ve tried becomes DUST. Like super low standards. OH NO… now tt my palate has experienced the exquisite, it cannot stand for lower standards alr. wat kind of Tiramisu hav I been eating in the past?
Sry but tt's the prob with fine dining, u get those super dark photos but I cant help it. They've got to do up the ambience.

Plus, I jus heard from my fren tt the restaurant's German Chef recently left and they are waiting for the arrival of an Italian Chef so meanwhile the chef tt acc whipped us our yummy food was a Singaporean. WOW I'm so proud tt a Singporean can whip up such a standard!

We paid arnd $120 for 3 ppl but it was co we had the ala care mbrship card, so be prepared to spend abt $50-$60 per person if ya wanna come here. But it's worth it, with the ambience n food plus service isnt tt bad. But i ya wan a value for money, I still very vehemently advocate Tao's Restaurant! THEY R SIMPLY... THE BEST IN TOWN (for heapos like me but still wa good food, great service & not tt bad ambience)
